E-mail Q & A…
Posted by James Stewart
Keep sending your feedback and questions, I read all of them but only the best make it to the “Behind the Glass” Blog… jstewart850@yahoo.com is my direct e-mail address.
Drew in Middletown, RI writes “Dale, seems to get annoyed when you play a sound effect, is that why you don’t play many of them? And have you ever told Dale to go pound tar on a dirt road?”
James: I can’t speak for Dale getting annoyed with me, but there is an art of dropping in the right sound effect at the right time. I’m still trying to master that. Stating for the record, neither Dale nor Michael has ever told me to play fewer drops.
Nate in Somerville, “Can we PLEASE have someone blog about how awkward it must be in the studio with Felger and Dale doing a show together. It is great radio; you could cut the tension in that room with a knife. If you could get some sort of Dale & Holley show sideline report that would be fantastic.”
James: I don’t think we need a sideline reporter, I think what comes through your radio speakers is all you need to know.
Stephen in Newton writes, “What is Felger’s problem? Does he have diarrhea of the mouth? When is Holley coming back? And is the Lightning round coming back with him?”
James: Felger has many problems, WAY too many to list in a single blog. You should e-mail him and ask him, he’ll likely post it during his mailbag. mfelger@weei.com
Yeah, his diarrhea of the mouth came from talking to his producer and his national update guy for three hours, five days a week, for three years up the dial.
Michael Holley is set to come back Tuesday, September 2nd and we hopefully will have a really cool announcement to make that day as well. It’s not a major announcement, but its something we think fans of the Dale and Holley Show will be excited about.
Not so sure about the Lightning Round. The best thing about it might be the controversy surrounding the segment. There are disputes over the segment itself and records that may or may not have taken place. If it does come back, it might be only when Dale is away from the show. It should also be noted for the record that for all the love that Holley and I give the Lightning Round, Dale is not the sole detractor. There is a big time movement to banish the segment all together. But as we always say, you never know what might happen!
John from Parts Unknown writes, “James, good to see that you’re blogging about wrestling! Don’t forget the Ironman match between HBK and Bret Hart at MSG that went to OT! Also, did you ever see the Rey Mysterio vs. Psychosis match in ECW back in the 90’s? Awesome stuff indeed!”
James: I wasn’t aware that Bret and Shawn had an Ironman Match at Madison Square Garden in New York. Doesn’t shock me but the popular Ironman match was at Wrestlemaina 12 when HBK won the belt in OT and then told referee Earl Hebner and Bret to get the F- out of his ring during his moment. That match was boring and one of the most over rated in wrestling history. Just because a match goes an hour doesn’t make it a classic. Better hour long matches include the Joe-Punk Ring of Honor match I mentioned, The Flair-Steamboat 2/3 falls Clash of Champions in the Superdome and the ECW Night the Line was Crossed match between Terry Funk, Sabu and ECW Champion Shane Douglas. I’ve heard that Bret Hart and Ric Flair had an amazing 30 minute Ironman match at the Boston Garden, but I’ve never seen it. The series Rey and Psychosis had was very good and really when ECW was in its peak years. Between 1995 and 1997 Extreme Championship Wrestling was the show to watch. It took a lot of effort to find it, channel 27 locally if you had rabbit ears like I did, but if you found it, you loved it!
